Sabrina Boat
The Story
The Sabrina takes its name from the Latin for the River Severn. The boat has been running circular cruises from Victoria Quay since the 1950s, making it one of the longest-running visitor attractions in Shrewsbury.
The 40-minute route follows the town loop, the tight bend in the Severn that gave medieval Shrewsbury its natural defence. The boat passes under the Welsh Bridge, along the backs of the town, beneath the English Bridge and back to the quay. It covers ground that is impossible to see any other way.
There is no better way to understand Shrewsbury than from the water. The town sits inside a loop of the River Severn, and from the Sabrina you see exactly how that shaped it — the bend, the bridges, the backs of buildings that were designed to face the river. We never tire of it.

Victoria Quay is at the end of Victoria Avenue, a 10-minute walk from the town centre via The Square. Look for the boat moored alongside The Armoury pub on the river bend.
The boat holds around 40 passengers and the trip takes 40 minutes. Sit on the left side heading out for the best view of the Welsh Bridge. The English Bridge, Shrewsbury School and the castle walls appear as the boat follows the loop. The crew know the river well.

The Armoury is immediately next to the quay and is the natural place to go after. Alternatively, the Quarry Park is five minutes on foot along the river — the formal gardens are free and the riverside walk back into town is one of the best stretches in Shrewsbury.
